France, the 16th century.
Lara, a sixteen-year-old girl accused of witchcraft, burns at the stake. As she dies, she summons the Earth Goddess and swears revenge on her murderers.

We see her spirit ascend from the flames and travel through time and space to the future city of New Eden.

It’s a city of killer robots, skyships, and TV execution shows to entertain the masses.

But Lara is not alone.

Following its huge Kickstarter success Sha 1: The Shadow One, the first collaboration between dream-team Pat Mills & Olivier Ledroit (of Requiem Vampire Knight fame), is now available to buy. Originally published in France, copies are hard to come by. It also had a short-lived, trade paperback release in the US with Heavy Metal, but is long out of print. Volumes 2 & 3 will also be released via Kickstarter.

If you’re a 2000AD reader, especially from the Golden Age, you will find much to appeal to you in Sha. It’s a chance to discover another Golden Age of wild science fiction/noir urban fantasy. Beautifully illustrated in full colour, with new ideas and new characters that will give you the same hit as the original classics. This hard cover has printed endpapers and an introduction by Pat Mills.
